Area Ohio towns film Underground Railroad video for ONN

Three Ripley residents and a Georgetown resident, took part in a video filmed for the Ohio News Network's series entitled, "Discover Ohio."

The video, filmed in Ripley and Georgetown, focuses on the Underground Railroad's significance in Ohio's history.

Grant tannery gifted to Ohio History Connection

Because of one family's generosity, the site of Jesse Grant's tannery on East Grant Avenue has been gifted to the Ohio History Connection.

The gift was made by Bob Waters and his family; daughters, Joan Baird of San Marcos, Calif. and Cheryl Turner of Cincinnati, both retired school teachers; and son, Bob, a pharmacist and drug store owner in Georgetown.

Grant Days draws people from all over region

People from all over southern Ohio and beyond visited Georgetown this past weekend for the village’s annual Grant Days celebration. The tannery yard was packed full of events, historical reenactments and programs concerning the Civil War and General Ulysses Grant, who lived in Georgetown during his boyhood

At 7:30 pm The Brown County Historical Society will have the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail Sign Dedication ceremony on the steps of the Brown County Courthouse in Georgetown, Ohio.
